History of Dolan Springs, AZ, with business information!
Vacant Land Sales back in the 50's, the Beginning, It was written:
Dolan Springs was originally called, LAKE MOHAVE RANCHOS, is virtually surrounded by the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, a Federally administered National Park. This park consists of 1000 miles of beach and shore line, along two of the largest lakes in the Western United States. Here is year round fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing and many excellent marinas, fine mooring facilities, docks and concessionaires who know how to make your visit one you will long remember. All of this amid the most breath taking scenery you have ever seen.
PRIVATE FLYING is extremely popular in this land of clear blue skies. In addition to the excellent landing field located at Lake Mohave Ranch Club. (Update: Currently this airstrip is no longer there), A Private air strip is located 20 miles north on Hwy 93.) A giant commercial air field, served by scheduled airlines is located at the city of Kingman, just minutes away. Many of you may be more interested in trailer living, "Trailerites" may park their trailers and use the facilities of the old blue trailer park, or another RV trailer park in Dolan Springs, or you may wish to live in your trailer on your own Rancho.
A FORMER 86,000 ACRE CATTLE RANCH, Lake Mohave Ranchos is an enchanted land now being subdivided for the first time (Back in the 1950's) At that time, more than 700 miles of roads had been constructed. Homes have been built, electric power lines have been constructed to provide power. (Yet today some use solar or wind power where necessary). Tree clad mountains, sparkling lakes, a modern city and the entertainment capital of the world, LAS VEGAS, all only a short drive away via US NAFTA HWY 93, which runs throughout the area.
Rich in the lore of the pioneer's struggle to win the West, abandoned mines that were once the dreams of early-day miners still dot the area. You may wish to explore some of the old "diggins", or visit the nearby ghost towns. Here is the picturesque West, so full of colorful history that you can spend endless hours of pleasure, yet only scratch the surface of its history. Today these ghost towns have re-enactments of the old west days!
Western beauty... Western sports... Western History... and Western Hospitality. A typical Western greeting, with neighbors astride their cowponies, await even the casual visitor. Days, weeks, years--- all are happy tmes at Lake Mohave Ranchos.
There is more to come and pictures too.
